general information
One of the hidden secrets of the East Australian Coast. Cookies lies about 30 kilometres offshore and getting out here is the easy bit. The real challenge is finding the break. rumoured to exist in the vicinity of Lady Musgrave Island and Fitzroy reef, Cookies is a barreling right hander that starts at around 4 feet and holds anything up to 12 feet plus. The bigger the swell the further it kicks out. Even Google Maps doesent have great coverage of this area so your best option is to do this.
A. Wait for a really big SE winter swell to appear on the horizon.
B. Travel to the town of 1770 in Queensland
C. A day before the swell hits, go into the local surf shop in Agnes Waters, Reef2Beach Surf and buy three boards
D. Beg to be taken out to Cookie's Break the next day, offering to be blindfolded
E. Let us know how it all goes
KTHKBAI
Seriously though, this area of the Australian coastline has many surfers very excited at the discoveries likely to be made in the future, whilse your waiting for 'that swell' to arrive, the towns of Agnes Waters and 1770 will keep you entertained with quality beach and point breaks. The boys at Reef2Beach surf should be able to hook you up with a charter to get you out there.
