general information
Lamberts, or Lambert's Beach is probably the only really reliable break in the Mackay area. The main break is a fairly fast peak dredging off close inshore sand banks. This spot can be totally flat for months of the year and hence the sand does tend to build up a long way inshore. When the cyclonic swells light this coast up the waves dredge off the banks into tight little rides better suited to bodyboards or those who like their drops very steep on a shortboard. The beach itself is a leisurely drive of around 20 minutes from Mackay along the Slade Point Road. When it's on you cant miss it, everyone within a 500 kilometre radius that owns a bodyboard will be there to greet you.
Be sure to have a poke around some of the other headlands if there is 3M plus of cyclone swell in the area, you may be suprised with what you can find.
