10 minutes drive south of East London is Igoda, a long deserted beach. The best surf lies up at the eastern end, just before Winterstrand, in front of the rivermouth. Faces southeast and picks up up any swell in the water so always has something. In this regard it is the back up spot for East Londoners when all else is flat. Can get really hollow and nice.

There have been shark attacks here, so the big sand dunes here may offer an alternative if you don't like mixing it with the men in grey suits!
