general information
Varadero is a resort town that's situated on one of Cuba's most beautiful beaches, in the Hicacos Province. It sits on a peninsula only about 1 km wide which is separated from the island of Cuba by the Kawama Channel. This spit extends more than 20 km from the mainland to the northeast with numerous white sand beaches. Not known for it's surf, but if you find some north swell getting onto the coast, you might find a sand bank or two with a wave. Also known as Playa Azul. Being a tourist mecca, there's plenty of bars and clubs to keep you otherwise engaged.
