general information

D.T. Fleming Beach Park is located on the northwest tip of Maui in Kapalua, just in front of the Ritz Carlton. The beach offers a pounding winter shore break towards the western end that calls to body and boogies. At the eastern end and further around the rocks there are two reefs that can provide fast hollow right handers, that work on bigger north to north east swells. Any swells west of north are blocked by Molkai.

The park is named for the Scottish born DT Fleming who arrived in Maui in 1889. He managed a number of local business operations and in 1950 was elected U.S. Senator from Hawaii.
