general information

Makena Beach is the official name of this stretch of sand that is called Big Beach Maui by most locals. It is located on the southwest coast a few kms south of Makena State Park. The wave here is a pounding shorebreak that suits body and boogie boarders mostly but gives shortboarders fast hollow options.

Will be crowded with tourists and locals alike, if you're up for something more challenging, keep heading south to Dumps or La Perouse.
