Playa El Emir is a popular beach just near downtown Punta Del Este, that draws a crowd. it also has a fast beach break that is of decent quality and can produce hollow barrels in the right conditions. The construction of the nearby road, Rambla de Circunvalación has seen sand disapear from the beach and the peak breaks over rocky patches.  There is also a surf school here.

Its name derives from the Emir Emin Arslan, an eccentric Visiting Punta del Este in the second decade of the century he built his house on the edge of this beach.
