general information
World class right handers breaking over a series of reefs around the point into Honalua Bay. One of the spots on the island, and also one of the most well known. Actually made up of a few different sections as the waves refract into the bay and interct with the underlying reefs.
On the outside of the bay is Subs, that sometimes connects with the next reef in called Coconuts, which peels from the first point in the bay closing out just before The Cave. The Cave starts in front of the cliff and provides super hollow barrels that are critical and give rides made in tube heavan, and as such probably the most favoured of the sections. Watch out for the infamous hole in the rock here which lends it's name to wave, it has been said sometimes boards go in but don't come out.
Next the wave continues refracting around the point to a section called Keiki Bowls, which is a fast bowly section that breaks over increasingly shallower reef. Speed is of the essence here unless you want to take off a few skin layers on the reef. On the epic days the two outside section will link up, as will the two inside sections, providing long rides the centre of many a legendary surf story. If it's working it will be ultra crowded so if you're not up to it, you'll spend plenty of time just bobbing around.
