general information
Capel Cut Capel Cut is a rare and fickle right hand reef break. When conditions are good and the swell is in the head-high range Capel is a very easy wave to surf. It has nice slow take-off followed by a predictable wall. It never gets much over head high and doesn’t have the raw power of the surf in the Margaret River / Yallingup region. On smaller days the wave can be frustratingly full, however this is no such problem for the mal riders who frequent the break. The swell is smaller at Capel than Bunbury as it’s tucked in well behind Cape Naturalist. To get to Capel Cut from the highway, turn down Stirling Road and work your way to Pepperment Grove Tce. On its day Capel Cut is an enjoyable high quality wave. Unfortunately ‘its day’ only happens a handful of time every year. BT
