general information
A rare novelty wave that breaks in only the biggest of ENE swells. Typically, this break is an idyllic picnic spot. The only regular wave action being from passing vessels. When all hell breaks loose off the coast of Sydney however 'The Park ' comes to life. Wave energy will bounce around inside the outer harbour and eventually dump onto this beach. The end result is a peaky 3-5 foot wave that offers a short, rare but memorable experience.
There is a swimmers mesh that stretches across the entire beach. In a swell this becomes a serious hazard. Having said that, there is nothing more amusing than watching a bodyboarder just getting up into drop knee position totally coathanger himself on the swimmers nets as a 5 foot set dumps down around him.
This wave breaks once every 1-2 years, not one to plan a surf holiday around but worth sampling if it comes together. Passing ferries add a nice 'wobble' element to the wave which can sometimes make that last section just a little more makeable. This can easily work the other way of course turning a very fast barrell into a horrible closeout.
