general information
At the southern end of the Manyana township is the point known as Green Island. A small rocky/grassy island close to the coast that is VERY easy to recognise.
Drive to the southern end of town and park next to the toilent block. You can check the surf by walking down the bush track that runs to the south of the car park. At the end (250m) you have a clear view of the island. To get to the break you need to walk down the other track from the carpark, down to the beach and then along to the island about 400m. The paddle is best done from the beach. It is easy enough as the water is all but flat however to get out to the break it is about 400m paddle over dark, deep water... not a good time to think of your favourite Jaws moments..
The lefts are the waves you want, they form up perfectly on the edge of the island and can run up to 300m on a good day. A fast, sometimes barreling wave, well suited to intermediates or experienced surfers. The sort of wave you might expect in Bali. Wave size can be anything from 2 - 15 ft as it never closes out. Best in a Summer northerly or on a still day. One of the all time classic South Coast waves.
Be respectful to the locals and you will do fine. Plenty of waves if you just wait your turn.
