general information

The world famous and world class waves of Trestles are stop off for the WCT (World Championship Tour) competition every year when the worlds best competing surfers swing by. The waves here are also heavily featured in surf magazines and movies the world over. It's fair to say they receive plenty of limelight, and all this limelight leads to crowds, masses of em!

Trestles consists of two main breaks; uppers and lowers. Upper Trestles is kind of a point break set up with a cobblestone sea bed which flicks up a high quality, fast and hollow ride. The optimum swell direction for Uppers is west and a northeast wind is offshore. Check it around mid tide.

Lower Trestles is the busier of the two breaks and is more of a peak offering hollow lefts and longer fast rights. Lowers will break throughout the tidal range and is best in southwest swells, again with a northeaster wind being offshore.

And as luck would have it it currently looks awesome on Google Earth, check out the map.
