general information

Tallows is the back beach of Byron Bay. Located under the lighthouse on the ocean side. Acess is via a narrow sealed road that turns off behind Clarkes Beach in Byron Bay town. Tallows is only 1km or so down this road so you could drive, ride or walk from Byron.

A beach break that gets all open ocean swells. Great place to surf if the swell is too small in the bay and the wind is west to north. Sand banks determine the wave quality but there is usually something out there.

Often you will see dolphins in the water and Tallows has been know for sharks with a few attacks in recent history. In saying that, you are more likely to die by being kicked by a donkey than eaten by a shark and if you do get bitten you will be famous!

A fun beach break that can get serious when the swell is bigger. Not really a beginner wave but good for everyone else.
