general information
Seal Rocks is a sleepy town that hosts a number of nearby secluded breaks that offer idylic surfing experiences. The wave taking the name of the town is located at the southern end of Sugarloaf Bay and faces northeast. Being inside the bay, it is sheltered from some of the more south swells and needs an easterly component in the swell to have a wave. A large southeast to east swell can wrap into the bay and turn on some waves. But the optimal conditions favour a solid northeast groundswell with offshore southwesters. When this happens you'll see long walling right-handers peel off the point a couple of hundred metres into the beach. A perfect shaped right hander that can take you all the way to the sand. A pretty mellow wave that lends itself to longboards and fishes. There are several other breaks around, keep heading around past the lighthouse to Treachery and you're sure to be pleased.
