Hey Guys, thanks or the feedback on this. A few lines on what we have been up to over the last few months.
I guess the main focus has been on building added features for members. A lot of ur content and hard work has started to appear on other surf related sites without reference. Flattering I guess but annoying as well. We are going to start locking down parts of the atlas that will only be reached by members logging in with their username and password. This gives us a lot more impetus to produce content for those members as opposed to free editorial for every surf magazine that thinks they know how to build a website.
We have formed a great relationship with one of the major surf magazines which I will announce formally on the site shortly. This will give us the ability to produce some great print products and guides. Discounts for members another add on we have factored into the process.
Because forums are a free to use area of the site we have been reluctant to put extra funds into developing them at present but a few of the media relationships we have set up should see a lot more activity on them in 2010. 89 people online as I write this all browsing through various countries and surf spots from around the world. Our big focus in 2010 will be offering enough tools and products available to members only to encourage them to sign up and keep coming back.
Imagery? hmm, let me know exactly what problems you are having guys and I will look into it. The only limiting factor is the size of an image. 512k per image is the cut off. We had around 250,000 visits last month, over 1 million page impressions and that burned through 100gig! so we have to keep the bandwidth in check some how.
Anyway team, looking forward to having you all onboard in 2010 and getting your feedback on the way the atlas continues to evolve.
Happy New Year!
