What is the general concensus on this, going to head downunder next season and still working out which coast to hit uo

I think both are excellent. To my opinion West - more waves, but isolated, East a lot of people, but more culture (Clubs, Galleries etc). But since we are talking surfing here, I would go West. A lot of time, food, boards, 4wd...and waves, waves, waves.

Would love to check Barrow Island, but I heard it's a mission to access the area. Anyone heard about that place? Looks mad on google earth

Barrow Island is leased by an Oil Company that runs the nearby oil fields on NW Shelf. Only leathernecks can stay here and surf here unhappyunhappyunhappyunhappyunhappyunhappy

How can lease the whole island?? Looks like a friendly business to me, perhaps branching into alien-cloning or organ-trading. But still, so many awesome looking breaks!! May be option for a surf trip ninja style. Animal_Mother, can you give it a check for us please? Just take silver bullets with ya. Otherwise, looks like you are fully equipped and ready for whatever smile

Thank's to spend your time to share. This is what I (and others, I believe), really need. It's really very informative post. Please keep it up. Looking for more relevant post.
