surfing near bangkok

Hey, I live in Costa Rica and have access to really cool surf spots. Because of work I'm going to go live to Bangokok, Thailand. Does anybody know any good spots near Bankgok??? Should I take my board with me or buy one there???

Nothing near Bangkok mate except a good dose of Hepatitis from the filthy water near the port. Windslop around Phuket should keep you mildly satisfied until you can get down to Indo, sorry unhappy

Try Phuket during the monsoon (Arpil to Oct) for some windswell. can sometimes getting surprising Ok waves at Kata Noi and surrounds, but OK is a relative term, after all this is Thailand. Plenty of boards for rent but they're all quite tired and bashed up, and cater for european backpackers.Koh Samui also gets some wind slop during it's monsoon (Oct to Jan). Try Chaweng beach if you can get out there. Not many good board options in Thailand, though plenty of boards for rent in Phuket but they're all quite tired and bashed up, and cater for european backpackers, wanting to get sunburnt trying to paddle onto .5 ft whitewater. So take a board or two, flights are very cheap from Bangkok to Phuket or Samui (see AirAsisa) and any surf is better than no surf!Otherwise take the opportunity to travel and head to world class waves in Indonesia, you'll be a lot closer than from CR.

I surfed at Kata beach in Phuket last June and am goin back to Thailand in April and May, gunna spend a month there living on another island away from too much commercial shit...but am planning a few days at Phuket and probably surf up near Surin beach this time, just need the wind to blow up some swell and there is a few fun waves at the right time of year...if you want a good board, take a high volume semi-fish shape , not many decent boards that I saw there, I just hired a fishy quad which did the job...and am doin the same this time, my son and I will just hire a few different boards and enjoy the nice refreshing 28 degree water....but if I was working in Bangkok and was a surfer, I would definitely be getting down for a few waves every now and then, what I surfed last time was worth it.....

Thanks for post. It?s really informative stuff.I really like to read.Hope to learn a lot and have a nice experience here! my best regards guys!
