Christchurch is the regional capital of Canterbury and the largest city in the South Island, New Zealand. it is also the second largest city and third largest urban area of New Zealand. It is a coastal city, located just north of Banks Peninsula.

The range of accommodation in Christchurch is broad, though the city does have a number of events and festivals and beds soon fill up so double check and book in advance if necessary.

There is also a great range of backpackers hostels and plenty of campervan rental agents - many of these are at the airport and can sort you out with a mobile home on arrival.
