Quite a few places to stay at, some closer to the airport and some closer to downtown. Cascade Inn is Sitka's only waterfront hotel and is fairly close to downtown. All the views from the rooms are of the Pacific Ocean and the hotel provides oceanfront sauna, bbq and laundry services.
If you would like to have a local "feel" of the city, Eddystone Inn is on a private peninsula with Alaskan featured rooms. Just about 10 minutes from downtown, you could experience a very unique, quiet and peaceful holiday.
