travel

Because it is situated on an island, Kodiak is accessible only by air and sea.
Alaska Airlines and Era Aviation have daily flights available to and from the island. If you can't go by air, Alaska Marine Highway System offers ferry service to Kodiak via the M/V Tustemena, or what the Kodiak locals call the "Rusty Tusty".
where to stay

Kodiak offers a lodge called Kodiak Legends Lodge, which is great for accessing the best fishing and hunting experience! It provides great food and serivce and is located close to town. The best hotel in downtown Kodiak is Best Western Kodiak Inn, which provides rooms overlooking the boat harbour.
There are plenty of other options in Kodiak but because it is such a small town, all are fairly close to each other. If you aren't staying for long and just want an overnight sleep, you could always just get a simple bed and breakfast.
