Makkah Province is located in the west of Saudi Arabia, from the census in 2004, it has a population of 5,797,971 inhabitants and is the most populous province of Saudi Arabia. Makkah Province has an area of 164000 kilometres squared, its capital city being Mecca. Mecca is the holiest city in Islam and because of that, it is forbidden for Non-Muslims to enter the city.

The largest city however, is Jeddah, which is also Saudi Arabia's main port city. The governor of the province is Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, a son of the late King Faisal.

Makkah is full of hotels, ranging from the Hilton to smaller and less well known hotels with numerous facilities. Some of the world's greatest hotels are situated in Makkah and can be very and booked out months before the check in date. Make sure you make a booking if you are going in the high season.

  • Dar Al Tawhid Makkah (The Inter-Continental)- Luxury hotels right outside The Holly City. The hotel is beautiful with views of Mecca. Staffs speaks Arabic, English, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Punjabi.
  • Hotel Elaf Al Huda - Simple rooms with air-conditioning only 15 min walk from Haram.
  • The Hilton towers (6 towers attached to the main hotel) is nicely constructed and maintained, with a signature Hilton B'fast. The entire complex is built on a Shopping Complex, with a decent food court thus making it a convenient location to stay at.
