The Gold Coast is an extensive coastal city located in the southeast corner of the state of Queensland in Australia, between the state capital of Brisbane to the north and the New South Wales state border to the south.
Currently known as the 6th largest city in Australia (500,000 inhabitants), the Gold Coast has long been a high profile tourist destination for Australians and overseas travelers alike.
The name of the main city of the region is Surfers Paradise, which consist of 70 km of beaches and several hundred km of tidal rivers and basins.

Want to surf the superbank? Mkay but don't spend three weeks out of your four week holiday lining up for your shot. The whole QLD coastline from the NSW boarder up to Fraser Island offers quality consistent surf and year round warm water. This coast reads like a who's who of classic surf spots. Kirra, Duranbah, Snapper Rocks, Noosa and the list goes on.
North of Fraser the combination of a generally north north west grading coastline and the fringing Great Barrier Reef reduce regular surfing options considerable. The great barrier reef does offer several excellent offshore passes and breaks for those of spirit all the way to Cairns, but their locations are fiercely guarded by the few that surf them. Still, this should give you plenty to keep yourself busy with.

Gold Coast? Places to stay? The choice is yours compadre. The Gold Coast is one of Australias most popular tourist destinations and places to stay is one thing it isn't short of. Your can choose from campsites and carvan parks, backpackers hostels, self contained and serviced apartments available for long or short term rent, budget hotels, motels and full on luxury 5 star luxury at the Hyatt Regency! Most accommodation is within easy reach of the beach too.
The most popular pad of choice in this region seems to be the mid ranged self contained apartment block style accommodation. This typically comprises of a couple of bedrooms with a living area, washer/dryer and a kitchen for self catering and you can get it serviced or unserviced.
Despite the vast array of digs at your disposal here, it is worth booking in advance during peak season and holiday periods as the accommodation can be as busy as a 3ft day at Snapper.
