introduction

Valparaiso is located in central Chile and is one of that country's most important seaports and an increasingly
vital cultural centre in the hemisphere's Pacific Southwest.
Although Santiago is Chile's official capital, Valparaiso houses the National Congress.
Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean,
Valparaíso boasts a labyrinth of streets and cobblestone alleyways,
embodying a rich architectural and cultural legacy.
The only downside is that, like all most of Chile, Valparaiso, like most of Chile, is vulnerable to earthquakes and have experienced devastating incidents in the past.
where to stay

Accomodation in Valparaiso ranges from Bed & Breakfast to nice quiet hotels.
Most travellers however, stay at hostels. If you do a quick search on Google, many hostels will pop up with ratings from other experienced travellers.
Hostel Milhouse and Hostal Morgan are two inexpensive and highly-rated for their security. Alternatively, you can look into accomodating at a guesthouse.
