Nunavut was seperated from the Canadian North West Territories in 1999. The word 'Ninavut' means 'our land' in the native language of the Inuit. The southern east and west coasts of the region offer unexplored surfing options for the hardy explorer. Swell generating winds stream across the region year round. Sadly, much of this coast remains icebound throughout the year. The swell window here is limited by the availability of open ocean and available sunlight in Summer. Dont get caught here in winter - no surf, no ocean, no sun.
