Surfing atlas officially launched on 15 October 2008. The thank you list for a project of this scope is very long but there is one group whose contribution is probably the most visible and by it's very nature has been a cornerstone in the successful launch of the site - our photographers.

Many photographers contributed to Surfing atlas over the past 12 months but there were a select group of artists who granted us the use of their images for free and we are indebted to them. Many of these images are some of the finest and most recognisable contemporary surf images in publication. The addition of these images has set an excellent standard and benchmark for amateur and semi professional photogrpahers alike, who as members of the Surfing Atlas community have much to aspire to. I wish to personally thank the following:

PAUL KENNEDY www.pkphotos.com

Paul Kennedy has provided imagery that simply defines many of the best waves on the planet. You may recognise many of Paul's images with the Atlas, thats because they have been gracing surf magazines and surf travel guides for years. Paul's participation in this project has granted us truly global coverage.

TIM MCKENNA www.tim-mckenna.com

No one photographer has captured a wave in quite the manner that Tim McKenna has documented Teahupoo. We are proud to have many of these images onboard the Atlas. Beyond that however, Tim has provided many other images that define surfing within the South Pacific.
