Surfing atlas officially launched on 15 October 2008. The thank you list for a project of this scope is very long but there is one group whose contribution is probably the most visible and by it's very nature has been a cornerstone in the successful launch of the site - our photographers.

Many photographers contributed to Surfing atlas over the past 12 months but there were a select group of artists who granted us the use of their images for free and we are indebted to them. Many of these images are some of the finest and most recognisable contemporary surf images in publication. The addition of these images has set an excellent standard and benchmark for amateur and semi professional photogrpahers alike, who as members of the Surfing Atlas community have much to aspire to.
